Ancestral tourism
There are few experiences that could better bring an ancestor to life than being able to walk in their footsteps, seeing the streets and houses in which they lived, the buildings they worked in, the churches in which they were baptised and married, and the place where they were laid to rest.
If you have ancestors who lived in the north-east of England, or Cumbria, and are planning to visit the region, I can help you to make the most of your visit.
Perhaps you have already carried out some genealogical research of your own, and are aware of some of the places associated with your ancestor. Or perhaps you are looking for someone to do this research for you before you visit.
Either way, once the key pieces of information have been established, I can create a bespoke, self-guided tour for you, designed to take you to the locations your ancestor would have known.
All self-guided tour packages include clear maps and planned routes, with places of interest clearly marked, as well as background information on the history and characteristics of each location. If you intend to do some research of you own while you’re here, I can also tell you about the record offices and archives that will best suit your needs, and suggest record sets that might be of interest to you.
If you have ancestry in this region and are planning to visit, why not get in touch with me and see if I can help enhance your visit?
